Love Wave Contest 1, often referred as LWC 1, was the debut edition of the Love Vision Contest. The edition was held in Vienna, Asutria as it was the host's country. Österreichische Rundfunk (ORF) chose the Viennese City Hall the capital city of the country. Miriam Weichselbraun and Klaus Eberhartinger were selected as the presenter of the event.
twenty-three countries participated in the first edition, all of them being debutants as it was the first edition. In order to participate, the countries had to be firstly approved to be members of the Broadcasting Union.
The winner of the edition was Russia with the song "A Million Voices" performed by Polina Gagarinova, which scored 122 points, eleven points over the runner-up, Sweden. The top 5 also included Denmark, Belgium and Austria.

The city is located in the eastern part of Austria and is close to the borders of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary.
These regions work together in a European Centrope border region. Along with nearby Bratislava, Vienna forms a metropolitan region with 3 million inhabitants In 2001, the city centre was designated a UNESCO World

twenty- three countries participated in the first edition of the contest. The submissions for the first edition opened on 19 March 2017. Every country should choose their broadcaster for the contest. Kosovo wasn't allowed to enter the first edition. The contest started in April. As the rules say, if the country will select internally their entry, they should announced the artist at least one week before they reveal the song.
Twenty-three countries participated in the final, with all forty-one participating countries eligible to vote.
